Actual locations, rather than sets, were used on Arrested Development whenever possible. Many of the recurring interior sets were housed at Culver Studios in Culver City, CA, so locations in Culver City and the surrounding communities of Marina del Rey and the rest of the greater Los Angeles area make frequent appearances. What follows is a partial list of filming locations used in Arrested Development.
Marina del Rey, California[]
Although many scenes in the show are set in Balboa Island in Newport Beach, California, most of the scenes set in Balboa Island actually take place in Fisherman's Village (renamed Oceanside Wharf in th show) in Marina del Rey, California. Scenes involving the Bluth Banana Stand, as well as many of those involving boats take place there.
Culver City, California[]
Scenes that didn't take place in the fictional Oceanside Wharf were often filmed in and around Culver City, California.
- The Culver City hall stood in for the courthouse in several scenes throughout the series.
- In Altar Egos Michael picked Maggie Lizer up at Deliberations which was set in the Culver Hotel.
