In November 2003, the producers of Arrested Development were sued by the hip hop group Arrested Development over the use of the name. The band was an alternative rap group from the early 1990s that has released nine albums. The group is still together and released the most recent album in 2010.

The band was offered a settlement of $10,000 for trademark infringement.
